The End of Blizzards Journey

 Honestly, if we had any other rat I probably would’ve hated this class. Blizzard's personality and intelligence made me absolutely love this class! I wouldn’t change anything about it. The partner idea was the best because without my partner this wouldn’t have got done by me, I would’ve been terrified the whole time!! Seeing my partner just as scared as me and her trying inspired me! I was surprised to learn that rats are actually cool. As far as overcoming misconceptions, I thought rats were just rodents nothing else and I couldn’t imagine them being able to be trained. Forever and Always TEAMBLIZ💖

 Blizzard again with the hands and feet! She gets so caught up in pressing the lever she loses balance and flips over. She always gets up and keeps going regardless of our laughing. On FR15 she pressed the lever a total of 1178 times and got 74 pellet deliveries. Shes amazing and shines brighter and brighter everyday. I don't care what anyone says we have a genius rat!!

Shaping (Day 3)

Day 3 This day was really good. Again we took her out early still getting the hang of things. In the total of 16 minutes she pressed the lever a total of 151 times and was only reinforced a total of 6 times. At this point I think it was safe to say she got it. If she was in there longer she would've had way more lever presses. We cheered her on and was so excited! We believed she was the only rat doing this good so we were feeling ourselves a bit for being great trainers and having the smartest rat (we soon learned that wasn't true at all). 💖

Magazine Training

Blizzards Magazine Training   It took Blizzard 5 minutes total to be magazine trained. Our criteria for determining whether Blizzard was magazine trained or not was how long it took for her to realize the pellet delivery and where it was how the sound and light meant food was being expelled. She became familiar with the sound of the operant box pretty quickly. During this process, she was exploring the box and was curious about her new environment. She was very entertained by the light she sniffed around it many times and the light being above the lever led her to accidentally press the lever a couple times. The process was similar to the book and class discussion, she was trained at her own pace and eventually got it. I knew what to expect, I just didn't expect Blizzard to get it so fast I was surprised.💖
